In June of 1995, at Borders I hosted an exhibit of Mark Fisher's rare books,

a collection of beat literature and ephemera. It's somehow easier -- less stressful -- to organize another artist's exhibit!

As Events Coordinator at Borders Books & Music, I had the opportnity to organize some cool gigs, including a CD promo for Linda Ronstadt in the Winter of 1994/95. To improve the store's appearance, I hung my own paintings. Here Linda signs CD's under my painting, "The Sea Captain's Drawing Room." I enjoyed meeting with Linda and she enjoyed my paintings. Her in-house concert was stunning -- her voice is silky, deep and powerful, Above, my painting "Walking on Air."

The Virginia Carten Gallery

The Show's title was "Nature, Memory and Myth: Black Joe's Pond,

and Other Tales." This opening was on Sunday, September 9th.

Two days later, the monumental trauma of September 11th eclipsed all.

Hopefully, the gallery space was a healing sanctuary for visitors and

contemplation of the paintings provided a way through and forward

during the month of September.
